The Cozy Island Cottage is nestled under the shade of large live oak trees on James Island. Conveniently located 5 miles from Folly Beach and downtown, you are just minutes from the best Charleston has to offer. This new construction "beachy farmhouse" cottage features an open floor plan, 17 ft cathedral ceilings, fully stocked kitchen, live edge slab island bar top, over 250 sqft of outdoor living space, a bedroom with queen on main floor, and loft with queen bed accessed by a spiral staircase.
Amenities
Space
This spacious, well designed cottage offers a full kitchen with all the essentials, comfortable tiled shower with rain shower-head, and detachable shower-head, easy key-code access, Wifi, two flat screen smart TV's, laundry room, inside and outside seating areas, grill area, outdoor shower and ample space in the large shady backyard to play and entertain. The spiral staircase to access the loft is narrow. If you have trouble climbing stairs or are over 250lbs using this staircase may be challenging. Beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, a portable speaker are provided for you convenience as well as coffee, sugar, bath and beach towels, bed linens, paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps.
Access
In addition to the cottage, guests have access the to the fenced-in 1/2 acre backyard, with ample parking for cars, boats, RVs etc. (backyard is shared with home owner and guest of the Island Hideout). Guests also have access to the outdoor grill beside the deck.
Interaction With Guests
Owner lives in the house at the front of property and can be available for any issues or questions you may have about the area, restaurant recommendations, or activities.
Neighborhood
Centrally located in a convenient James Island neighborhood, only a quick 5-mile drive or Uber ride to both Folly Beach and Downtown Charleston. Beautiful James Island County Park is close by as well as restaurants, bars, shopping, banking, and convenience stores within a half-mile.
Transit
Uber and Lyft are plentiful and affordable. There are also local yellow cabs, limo services, and a public transit.
Notes
There are two other units, The Island Hideout and The Island Nest, attached to the rear of the front house, that may house other guests during your stay. The structures are separated by about 200' but are on the same half acre property so please be courteous. The Cozy Island Cottage is the Stand alone in the back corner of the yard. House Rules
-Guest must follow all house rules outlined on the platform, in rental agreement and digital guidebook -Any refunds for cancelations will be less the credit card processing fees. - Quiet Hours are after 11pm. Failure to follow quiet hours may lead to immediate cancellation of booking without refund. - This is a self-check-in property; you certify that you are willing and able to follow the instructions that are provided through Airbnb and/or the digital guidebook link prior to your check-in date. Failure to follow check-in instructions resulting in the inability to access the unit is not grounds for cancellation. - There is a $200 fee per day for smoking inside the unit. - There will be a $50 fee for any unauthorized late check out. - Damages/losses as a result of guest failing to follow the house rules as provided, requiring the subsequent guest(s) to be discounted or refunded will be the responsibility of the negligent party -If hanging any type of decorations, only use wall safe tape. - Please confirm the number of guests in the reservation. Any additional overnight guest will incur an additional fee. - Guest understands that exterior surveillance and noise monitoring devices may be used on the property. -Any and all pets must be approved and applicable pet fee paid. Any unapproved pets on the property is a violation of house rules and will incur a penalty of up to $500.

Wonderful stay! The hosts were proactive and communicative, with check-in details and local tips clearly organized. The home was peaceful, clean, and well-equipped. One night the neighbors had loud music, but that was out of the hosts' control. I felt safe throughout the stay — even going for a 6-mile run solo. The location is convenient to stores, Walmart, and a gym. A couple of things to note: traffic to the beach was heavy (over an hour to go 6 miles on Memorial Day weekend), so plan accordingly. Also, gluten-free dining options in the area are very limited — most menus offer basic lettuce-based substitutes. Not a fault of the hosts at all, just something to research if you’re GF. Overall, a great stay — thank you!

The house is very nice and priced well. The loft has a spiral staircase that can be challenging. I did not try to carry my suitcase up it. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom has a wonderful shower. We used the beach gear and grill, which was a nice extra touch. The kitchen had everything we needed. Only having one remote to the gate was also challenging if you have two cars- locking someone in or out of the house. Thank you for sharing your home with our family. It is a lovely place to relax and a 15 minute drive to the beach (perfect to see the sun rise out of the ocean).
